As part of our extension work of the 51st State Band, we also run several workshops for young people who are keen to try out a new instrument. Anyone who might be interested please let us know.
SAXOPHONE PROJECT
We're so grateful to Sir Walter St John's Educational Charity for enabling us to invite Gary Lewars to give expert saxophone tuition to children and young people who would not otherwise have the chance to play.
FRENCH HORN PROJECT
We have French Horns for small hands and orchestra, horns for teenagers.
Want to Play? With the wonderful suport of the Peabody Trust we have added a French Horn section to this band. Lessons and instruments can be provided as part of the band. So if you are keen to play (or know anyone who might be interested) we can sort it out! Just let us know.
TROMBONE PROJECT
We started our trombone project in 2007. All our trombonists are a fantastic example of just how quickly progress can be made by playing in our band.
Our pioneer trombonists are all taking Grade 6 music exams this summer. We are keen to find new funding for this hugely successful project - do get in touch if
you could help.
JAZZ IMPROVISATION PROJECT
Thanks to Youth Opportunities Fund we have been able to run a series of jazz workshops led by Patrick Clahar, one of the finest saxophonists in the world. He has been an inspiration to our muscians who have made outstanding progress under his guidance. offering a series of workshops for young people to develop their skills in jazz improvisation. Each workshop will be led by an experienced jazz musician, who will tutor you throughout the day. Some of our young musicians are now heading their own jazz bands and are performing at a variety of venues, events and music festivals.
